Banquet to mark the start of 2010 Summer Games

Former NFL star Larry Garron scheduled
A banquet will mark the official start of our Summer Games. It will be held on Friday, June 18 at Cheney Hall on the Springfield College Campus.
Former Patriots running back Larry Garron shares his memories of Jim Nance during the induction ceremony for running back Jim Nance and Patriots founder Billy Sullivan into the team's Hall of Fame. The ceremony took place in front of The Hall at Patriot Place.
Doors open at 5 p.m., ceremonies begin at 5:30 p.m. and the meal begins at 6 p.m.
Banquet cost is $20 per person this year. Our honorary chair and keynote speaker is Larry Garron.
Larry Garron was a college and professional American football player. A fullback, he played college football at Western Illinois University, and played professionally in the American Football League for the Boston Patriots from 1960 through 1963, and in 1965.
He averaged 5.9 yards per carry in 1962 and accounted for 1,168 total yards from scrimmage in 1963.
Garron was an American Football League All-Star in 1961, 1963, 1964 and 1967, and a member of the Patriots' All-1960s (AFL) Team.
Later, Larry Garron went on to study the martial arts. Larry Garron was the starting running back for the Boston Patriots of the American Football League the name of the team was not called the New England Patriots until 1971.
This year the Massachusetts Senior Games will have a raffle. The grand prize is a Steve Grogan autographed football.
Tickets will be available at the banquet (and at various venues during the Games). Costs are: 1 ticket for $5 or 3 tickets for $10. The drawing will be held on Sunday afternoon. You do not have to be present to win.
